The Green Car Buyer's Guide 2005 edition is available as an electronic download, currently for £4.95 from www.Ecolane.co.uk. Ethical WebSites is pleased to be able to point you in the
direction of this publication - an informative resource for anyone considering their future automotive needs, responsibilities and impact upon the environment. The Guide comes in at a weighty 143 pages in length, and as a PDF features a useful hyperlink page index
that aids the user in locating pertinent information to their situation.
The Guide has been written by Dr Benjamin Lane, whom Ethical WebSites is proud to have worked with on previous occasions. Dr Lane shows a thorough understanding of the many complex issues that surround any potential purchase of a "greener" verhicle. Point is made
early on in the text to the potential benefit to the environment by cutting car use. However, accepting that in the modern developed world the automobile is here to stay, Dr Lane provides an in-depth critique of the technologies available, while ensuring that they are put
in context by providing important background information on the environmental consequences of ever increasing numbers of vehicles on the roads.
The wealth of information available here would be useful not only to those interested in purchasing an envronmentally less-damaging vehicle, but also to students and scholars seeking to find up-to-date information concerning current legislation within the UK and the European Union. An
example of this is the clear explanation of EU limits for vehicle emissions that is presented in Chapter 2. This level of detail is present from the beginning right until the end of the text, and while this does mean that to read all five chapters will take a fair amount
of time, the layout is both clear and logical allowing the casual reader to dip in for a specific piece of information.
In summary this guide makes a welcome addition to the Ethical WebSites bookshelf, and we hope that you will add it to yours.
